The ByWard Market is among the most well-known – an outdoor farmers market and chic shopping district by day, and a meeting place of restaurants, pubs and clubs by night. Sparks Street, just a block south of Parliament Hill, was Canada's first open-air pedestrian shopping mall, with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere of car-free walkways, sidewalk cafés and exclusive shops. Bank Street Promenade is 15 city blocks and 500 shops, services, bars, restaurants and nightclubs. A little further south on Bank Street, The Glebe offers a unique mix of local restaurants and retailers. Into Italian? Head straight to Preston Street, Ottawa's Little Italy, just west of downtown. Craving Chinese or other Asian delights? Head to Sommerset West, Ottawa's Chinatown. And in between, check out the chic shops and restaurants of Beechwood Village, Somerset Village and Wellington Village, and the great active lifestyle, shopping, restaurants and décor boutiques of Westboro Village. |
