Canadian WingsAn all-new exhibition in Ottawa celebrating 100 years of flight has lifted off at the Canada Aviation Museum. Canadian Wings: A Remarkable Century of Flight recounts the incredible stories of people and their achievements in aviation since the first historic flight of the Silver Dart 100 years ago. The exhibition features new galleries which have been added to complement the finest aviation collection in Canada. They have been designed to give an appreciation of the significance of aviation for Canadians through the past one hundred years. Interactive displays, interpretive materials as well as small artifacts and models all contribute to an enriched visitor experience. The galleries of the exhibition cover different eras in Canadian aviation history: Getting in the Air (and Staying There) looks at the earliest days of flight; Tying the Country Together explores how aviation connected Canada and Canadians in entirely new ways; War and Industry demonstrates how war was a major catalyst for the growth of aviation; and Shrinking the world explores the growth of commercial aviation through the late 1940s to the present.
