Take your meeting to new heights at one of Ottawa’s unique urban offsites venues

Published on

Ottawa’s Shaw Centre and the city’s convention hotels offer modern, state-of-the-art facilities for meetings and conferences of all sizes. But what really excites meeting planners considering Canada’s capital are the unique offsite venues for special events, galas and receptions.

Imagine surrounding delegates with the world’s largest indoor collection of totem poles in front of a village of Pacific Northwest longhouses. You can do just that in the magnificent Grand Hall of the Canadian Museum of History–and even let your event overflow onto the Museum’s front lawn along the banks of the Ottawa River across from Parliament Hill.

For spectacular 270-degree panoramic views of the river, downtown and the Gatineau Hills, head up to TwentyTwo at The Westin Ottawa, a unique new space with floor-to-ceiling windows.

Creative industry events will feel right at home in the bright spaces of the all-new Ottawa Art Gallery, with catering by in-house restaurant Jackson. 50 Sussex, overlooking the Ottawa River next to beautiful Rideau Falls, is likewise an intimate, elegant and exclusive venue. Home to the Royal Canadian Geographical Society, it offers a range of flexible event spaces and configurations. For something truly different, allsaints event space’s is an historic church in the ByWard Market that has been re-imagined as an inclusive urban space.

Defence and aerospace industry events have two excellent locations for offsites in Ottawa. They can meet in the midst of historic military tanks and armament in the LeBreton Gallery at the Canadian War Museum, or under the outstretched wings of historic aircraft at the Canada Aviation and Space Museum. Want to let your delegates take a walk on the wild side? Take your offsite to the Canadian Museum of Nature.

All of these spaces and more let planners tap into both Ottawa’s urban vibe and some of the many things that make it Canada in one city.
