Barrhaven
South of the Greenbelt and west of the Rideau River is the community of Barrhaven, a bustling destination for shopping, business and entertainment.
Once a small farming community, modern-day Barrhaven was established in 1960 and was incorporated into the city of Nepean in 1978 before being amalgamated into Ottawa in 2001.
Now home to over 100,000 people, Barrhaven is a diverse and active neighbourhood that offers a wide variety of services, stores and recreational facilities. Residents and visitors can relax and enjoy the area’s many parks, splash pads, and sports fields. The Barrhaven area hosts a number of popular special events each year including a Santa Claus Parade and Canada Day celebration.
