Sip artisanal cocktails, craft beers and exclusive wines—and enjoy shareable small plates—in this Prohibition-style bar in the ByWard Market area.
The Apothecary Lounge's name is a nod to the “medicinal cures” of old, in which bitters, tonics and, yes, alcohol played leading roles. Today, the bar's mixologists create unique cocktails using real botanicals and house-made syrups. There's even a drink named for Ottawa's founder, Colonel John By.
Tucked into an 1875 stone building in the historic ByWard Market district, this stylish cocktail lounge channels the days of Prohibition but has a modern industrial-chic vibe. As you sip your drink, you can share treats such as charcuterie or oysters, nibble on small plates (think fries with champagne sauce, or mushrooms and quail egg on toast), or dine on something more substantial. In fine weather, the street-level patio gives you a front-row seat to the Market's nightlife.
