For excellence in travel writing 2020:
Ottawa Tourism offers an annual $500 CAD prize for outstanding travel writing featuring Canada’s Capital Region. Eligible entries include items in English or in French that have appeared in magazines, newspapers, or online media in 2020 that highlight Ottawa as a travel destination.
Christopher James Mitchell was named the winner of the 2019 Ottawa Tourism Travel Writing Award for his entry, Ottawa’s Canadian Tulip Festival, One of the Most Beloved Festivals in Canada, which was posted on his blog Traveling Mitch on May 30, 2019.
Katharine Fletcher received an honourable mention for her piece, For the Love of Ottawa’s Wild Places, starting on page 11 in the summer 2019 issue of Canadian Traveller magazine.
To submit an entry for 2020 Travel Writing Award:
Each entry must include a PDF or a link to the article along with the name, address, e-mail address and telephone number of the entrant, the name of the publication and the date the item was published. Entries must have appeared in print or online between January 1, 2020 and December 31, 2020.
There is no fee to enter, nor a limit on the number of articles an individual may submit (though each entry must be submitted separately).
The submissions must be received by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 5, 2021.
