LGBTQ2S+ in Canada’s capital

Ottawa is an inclusive and diverse destination that welcomes all visitors, including those who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, two-spirited. The city’s compact downtown offers easy access to world renown museums, beautiful art galleries, unique shops, fun tours, outdoor activities, great restaurants and fun entertainment.

Ottawa officially celebrates the LGBTQ2S+ community in its designated Village along a section of Bank Street downtown. You can visit LGBTQ2S+ related businesses, take selfies on the rainbow coloured crosswalks and enjoy beautiful urban art. Each year in August, the Capital Pride Festival holds many of its events here.

During your stay, you can also learn more about Ottawa’s LGBTQ2S+ legacy and history by following the self-guided walking tours created by the Village Legacy Project.
