Follow Gatineau Park

Swim, hike, bike, camp, cross-country ski, snowshoe or visit heritage sites amid towering trees and rocky outcrops in this expansive park just 15 minutes from Ottawa.

Gatineau Park is a year-round destination for nature lovers and history buffs. Start at the visitor centre in Chelsea, Quebec, where you can see interpretive displays, rent outdoor equipment and more. General admission is free, but fees apply for some activities and passes.

The 361-square-kilometre (139 square mile) wilderness site features scenic lookouts, multi-use trails, gorgeous lakes, cool caves and even overnight accommodations. The park is a sanctuary for more than 100 species of plants and animals at risk, as well as common flora and fauna.

In addition, you can learn about Canada's history at the Mackenzie King Estate, the wartime prime minister's summer home.

Gatineau Park is managed by the National Capital Commission (NCC).
