Lost Liberties — The War Measures Act

December 17, 2021 - September 5, 2022

How can freedom be preserved while also ensuring national security? Visit the Lost Liberties exhibit in the National Art Gallery that probes the fears, racism and crises which drove the suspension of civil liberties in Canada during the First World War, the Second World War and the 1970 October Crisis. This exhibit also features poignant first-hand accounts from the men, women and children who lived through those challenging times.
