Ottawa Tourism’s Anti-Human Trafficking Action Plan

Published on

On Thursday, February 22, 2023, Human Trafficking Awareness Day in Canada, Ottawa Tourism made an important destination announcement: Ottawa Tourism is committing to a long-term Anti-Human Trafficking Action Plan.

To our knowledge, Ottawa Tourism is the first destination management organization (DMO) in Canada to take such action.

Human trafficking occurs in every city, in every country, and Ottawa is no exception.

Ottawa Tourism’s Action Plan is a collective effort that is simple, scalable, and will help us gather data to inform future actions. Most significantly, it has been created in collaboration with human trafficking experts and those with lived experience. Ottawa Tourism is working closely with Meeting Professionals Against Human Trafficking, VoiceFound, and the Canadian Centre to End Human Trafficking to inform this first-of-its-kind action plan.
