Before dinosaurs, life began its transition from water to land. Life onto Land: The Devonian explores this pivotal chapter in Earth’s history, when early vertebrates evolved features that would eventually allow movement onto land.
The exhibition examines the Devonian Period and highlights Tiktaalik roseae, a transitional species between fish and four limbed vertebrates. On display are 77 fossil specimens, including the 375 million year old holotype of Tiktaalik, presented publicly in Canada for the first time. Through rare fossils and scientific interpretation, the exhibition offers insight into one of the most significant evolutionary transformations in the history of life.
