Ottawa 200 Biodiversity Tree

  • Sep 25 – Oct 22, 2026

Celebrate Ottawa’s 200th anniversary through Ottawa 200: Tree of Biodiversity, a unique public art installation featuring hundreds of hand-sculpted clay animals representing species connected to the city’s past and present. Created by Sandy Hill artist Ben Lachapelle (Ben Animalia), the colourful creatures are displayed on a seven-foot tree inspired by the iconic oaks of Strathcona Park. Visitors can explore a remarkable collection of wildlife ranging from prehistoric and at-risk species to animals found in Ottawa today while discovering the rich natural heritage that connects the city’s past, present and future.
