Steve Hackett is an acclaimed English guitarist best known for his influential work with progressive rock band Genesis, serving as the group’s lead guitarist from 1971 to 1977. During his time with Genesis, Hackett contributed to six studio albums and helped shape the band’s distinctive sound before departing to pursue a solo career. In 2010, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Genesis.

Hackett launched his solo career while still with Genesis, releasing his debut album, Voyage of the Acolyte, in 1975. He went on to build an extensive catalogue of solo work before joining forces with Steve Howe to form the supergroup GTR in 1986. Their self-titled album reached No. 11 on the Billboard 200 and produced the Top 20 single “When the Heart Rules the Mind.” Following Hackett’s departure in 1987, he returned his focus to his solo career, continuing to release new music and tour internationally.

Over the decades, Hackett has earned recognition for his versatility and distinctive guitar style. While progressive rock remains at the heart of his career, his music has also explored pop, blues, world music and classical influences, creating a diverse body of work that spans more than five decades.
