OTTAWA, November 4, 2025 — Ottawa Tourism’s new holiday rom-com, Magic On Set, is now available on Air Canada’s in-flight entertainment, in English with optional French subtitles, and streaming on YouTube. For a more immersive festive experience, holiday fans and film-lovers can take part in the Magic On Set free public screening at the Ottawa Christmas Market, every Friday at 6 p.m., starting November 28. For the occasion, the first 100 people to arrive at the Lansdowne BeaverTails location on November 28 will receive a BeaverTails coupon.
Magic on Set is a testament to Ottawa Tourism’s innovative marketing strategy for the holiday and winter season. Thoughtfully designed as a strategic tool, the film positions Ottawa as a premier winter destination, aiming to drive visitation and generate economic impact for the community. By leveraging authentic storytelling and showcasing Ottawa’s real locations, businesses and local talent, Ottawa Tourism is reaching new audiences and building emotional connections that inspire travel.
The film anchors a multi-channel campaign, including digital platforms, in-flight entertainment, social media and public activations while driving further traditional and non-traditional media coverage, ensuring broad exposure and measurable results for Ottawa’s tourism industry. Filmed in-season and featuring authentic Ottawa winter experiences, the short film demonstrates Ottawa Tourism’s commitment to strategic, results-driven marketing and to supporting the local creative economy.
Directed by Shawna Steele (An Ice Palace Romance) and starring Melinda Shankar (Degrassi: The Next Generation), Chad Connell (Good Sam), Sarah McVie (Workin’ Moms, The Handmaid’s Tale), Simba Yakibonge (No Regrets), singer/songwriter Jamie Fine, Stefan Keyes (CTV News anchor), content creator Katie Hession, and daughter Maeve Georgeson, the 17-minute short film captures the irresistible charm of Canada’s capital during the festive season.
