Ottawa is known for its diverse culinary scene, offering something for everyone from international flavours to vegan plates and gluten-free goodness.

Indulge in a sweet gluten-free treat at many of our cozy neighbourhood cafes.  Delight in a Sunday brunch, or weekday lunch, at several bistros offering healthy options.  Enjoy a dinner date with a delicious gluten free plate at a local trendy restaurant.

Downtown and Centretown

For enticing gluten-free eating options downtown, head to the ByWard Market and check out Sushi Fresh, Restaurant e18hteen, and Play Food and Wine.

Centretown is also bustling with tempting restaurants that are suitable for celiacs and gluten-free, such as Toro Taqueria, The Shore Club, Pure Kitchen, Green Papaya, and Aroma Meze. Be sure to check out Riviera for fine dining and D’Arcy McGee’s pub on Sparks. Slightly further to the east, try The Green Door Restaurant & Bakery on Main Street.

Little Italy, Westboro, and Hintonburg

Explore those trendy neighbourhoods for delicious gluten-free eateries. Over on Preston, indulge in Green Papaya, La Dolce Vita, and Pietro’s Corner. Richmond Road is home to a second location for Pietro’s Corner and Fratelli for gluten-free pasta plates. Enjoy Pure Kitchen vegan options and Mia’s Indian Cuisine. Find gluten-free treats at Strawberry Blonde Bakery on Grange Avenue as well.

Try out The Wellington Gastropub, Siam Bistro, and Little Mac's, all of which are located on trendy Wellington Street. On Carling, you can't go wrong with Taj Indian Cuisine. Yangtze Dining Lounge, located in Chinatown, has alternatives for those who are celiac or gluten-free.

Kanata, Nepean, Barrhaven, & Bells Corners

Over in the west, you can find several gluten-free and celiac friendly restaurants. Find Aperitivo wine bar and tasty appetizers on Kanata Ave, Indian Punjabi Clay Oven and Voila Gluten Free Bakeree on Carling Ave. Visit Strawberry Blonde Bakery (second location) on Silver Sven Road and Fratelli for authentic Italian plates on Terry Fox. Find The Joy of Gluten Free on Greenbank Road.

Nepean is also home to several gluten free establishments like Zola’s, Chances R, World Burger, Thia Fusion and Green Papaya (second location).

Gluten-free coffee shops

Looking for coffee shops with a gluten-free menu? Find Wild Oat Bakery and Oat Couture Oatmeal Cafe on Bank Street, Equator Coffee in Westboro, Red Dot Café in Ottawa South.

All Second Cup and Happy Goat Coffee locations now have gluten-free baked goods.

Other areas

Options that are safe for gluten-free diets may be found at Milestones and Craft Beer Market in Lansdowne.

Find Bambu and Bella Vista Pizza in Ottawa South. Over in the Vanier and Gloucester area, there’s Mia’s Indian Cuisine and Chahaya MalaysiaThe Garlic King in Orleans is another restaurant that is certain to satisfy your taste buds.

Find your way to Mano City Pizza, the Shoeless Joe's, and Brigadoon Restaurant in the south end of Ottawa.

Further in the west end, there are many options available to you, including Krave BistoWes' Chips, in Arnprior along Café Postino in Almonte.
