Chief Pinesi Day

Join Kichi Sibi Trails to celebrate Chief Pinesi Day, marking the end of an eight-day paddling journey along an ancient Indigenous route from Deep River to Ottawa. The paddlers are expected to arrive around noon on 1 July. In partnership with the Algonquins of Pikwakanagan First Nation, the event will feature a sacred fire, a smudging ceremony and guided tours of the Chief Pinesi Portage Trail, as well as drumming, dancing and singing. Attendees will also have the opportunity to meet the paddlers and hear about their journey.
