Les Mamans du Congo & Rrobin embody and sing to the African woman of the future. The self-described educators transmit Congolese cultural heritage and traditions to international stages, with music never heard in Africa.
Their debut album, EP Kikento, led to international acclaim. Their new album, Ya Mizolé (whose name means number 2 in Lari,) marks the culmination of years of struggle and sound experimentation in the Congo. It combines DIY percussive instruments, electronic beats, bass music and Afrobeats with drum machines, rap and spellbinding choruses. This charismatic, feminist group aims to raise awareness and preserve ancestral Bantu values, rhythms and melodies.
