Communities across the Nation’s Capital are invited to mark the 200th anniversary of the founding of Bytown on September 26, 1826. In 2026, this milestone will be celebrated throughout the region as the city reflects upon two centuries of growth, culture and community.
Under the theme Celebrate Together, the City of Ottawa, Ottawa Tourism and many local partners welcome residents and visitors to join in a year filled with special moments. Signature festivals, Indigenous- , community- and artist-led initiatives, a block party in the heart of downtown, and more will showcase Ottawa’s creative energy and its unique blend of history and modern spirit.
This curated mix of events represents new events commemorating Ottawa 200, signature festivals and events offering special programming relating to Ottawa 200, and events who've opted in to additional promotion in conjunction with Ottawa 200. There are also a selection of events and initiatives which are being supported by the following funding initiatives:
