Stay Cozy: Unique Indoor Team-Building Activities in Ottawa

Published on

Bringing the team to Ottawa for a meeting or a conference this winter season? Or maybe, you’re just looking to bring your team closer together with an interesting activity? We can help with that.

In addition to being home to important cultural attractions and national museums, Ottawa is also where you’ll find unique, indoor team-building activities that are perfect for the coming winter months. From axe throwing – yes, we’re serious – to archery, puzzle solving and more, the group is sure to be cozy and entertained. Discover a few unique activities that the whole group will enjoy! We bet that you haven’t tried all of these before.

BATL, Backyard Axe Throwing League Ottawa:

Located at 2615 Lancaster Rd., just a short drive east of Ottawa’s downtown core, BATL caters to groups. Here, in a casual setting, groups from six to 24 people can learn the ancient art of axe throwing. Enjoy a private throwing area with an experienced coach and of course, target practice. Have you ever thrown an axe at a target before?

Want to make a night of it? BATL can help you with that. Here, you’ll also find a fully-licensed bar and kitchen. Throw a few axes and then, catch up with a pint of local craft beer and casual finger foods. Your group is sure to have a laid-back, but memorable evening. BATL is one of Ottawa’s newest attractions!

Archery Games:

Located at 1860 Bank St., just south of Ottawa’s downtown core, Archery Games – also one of Ottawa’s newer attractions – offers Archery Tag, one of the world’s fastest growing sports.

Split your group into teams and have a great time chasing each other around an 8,000-square-foot facility. Archery Tag is similar to dodgeball, but it’s played with special bows and foam-tipped arrows. So you don’t have to worry, this activity is safe. No one will be leaving with bruises or marks.

An Archery Games session lasts for 75 minutes, including 25 minutes of briefing, basic archery training and practice as well as a few games. This is another great way to get the team together and stay out of the cold.

Escape Attractions:

A few different escape room attractions have emerged in Ottawa over the last couple of years.

Here, friends or co-workers are locked into a themed room and they have to work together – finding clues and solving puzzles – to escape. The group has to escape in a certain amount of time or… Meet a tragic end. In Ottawa’s downtown core, you’ll find Escape Manor, Room Escape Ottawa and Jigsaw Escape Rooms.

Have an ambitious group? Then head just west of Ottawa’s downtown core to the town of Carp, Ont., where you’ll find Escape the Diefenbunker. Coming up on its one-year anniversary, Escape the Diefenbunker invites guests to attempt to escape from Canada’s Cold War Museum, the world’s largest escape room. Can your group escape from a four-story underground bunker? You’ll definitely have to work together for this one.

These however, are only a few of Ottawa’s many team-building activities. There are many things to see and do in the city all year long. And with all of the activities available, you’ll be sure to organize the perfect team-building event.
