The Ryan Hill Ice-Carving Public Challenge

  • Feb 7, 2026
This ice carving activity invites participants to explore the fundamentals of ice sculpting in a hands on winter setting. Designed for amateur carvers, the experience includes a guided mini workshop led by professional ice carvers, followed by a creative carving period inspired by the theme “Celebrating Our Northern Canadian Identity.”
Participants take part in an informal carving challenge while learning basic techniques, tools, and safety practices. The activity also encourages exchange and discussion between participants and professional carvers, offering insight into the creative process behind large scale ice sculpture. Presented as part of Winterlude programming, the experience provides an interactive way to engage with winter artistry.
