A group of professional actors with disabilities grapple with finding an idea for their next play. Every concept they explore is met with its own taboos and trendy trigger warnings. Can a woman portray a man, or an Italian if you are not Italian? Ultimately, can you truly play anything other than yourself? Is art more open to our many virtuous impulses, or is it suffocated by them?
Theatre company Joe Jack & John reignites the relevance of questions raised one hundred years ago in Pirandello’s iconic play, boldly choosing to provoke debate without walking on eggshells. Instead, they invite us to share in a lively and playful performance—one that’s so politically correct, it’s not at all. Warning: May contain sharp eggshell shards!
