Ottawa Tourism is committed to stewarding the destination in ways that consider lasting benefit for community, economy and environment. Guided by this triple bottom line approach, Ottawa Tourism focuses on strengthening local prosperity through partnerships, developing tourism experiences with intention and building capacity across the visitor economy to encourage more sustainable and inclusive practices and Reconciliation.
Ottawa Tourism works closely with tourism businesses and event hosts to identify opportunities to implement more sustainable and inclusive practices. Through this facilitator role, the organization help ensure every guest has opportunities to make lower-impact, more intentional choices throughout their visit. Collaborative initiatives such as the À la Carte Food Recovery Program illustrate this approach in practice, with tourism partners coordinating to redirect surplus food to community organisations that support residents facing food insecurity.
Ottawa Tourism holds itself accountable by measuring the organisation’s carbon footprint, maintaining recognized certifications and embedding sustainability, inclusion and Reconciliation into organizational culture, operations and decision making. Through continuous learning and collaboration, Ottawa Tourism aims to ensure tourism contributes meaningfully to the quality of life of Ottawa residents, today and into the future.
