Brave Canadian soldiers played hockey on the frozen Imjin River during the Korean War whenever they had time away from the front lines.
The Imjin Hockey Classic, an annual commemoration of this moment, was inaugurated in 2013 on the Rideau Canal with a game between the Canadian Armed Forces and Parliamentarian teams.
It provides a valuable opportunity for spectators to learn about the Korean War and its historical significance.
Each spectator who attends the event receives a special gift of hand cream and a cozy blanket as a token of our appreciation.
