Event details for 2021 are to be announced. See below for 2020 programming:
For the first time, the Royal Canadian Legion is asking the public to pay their respects virtually instead of in person for the 2020 National Remembrance Day Ceremony.
Each year on November 11, the moving ceremony is held at the National War Memorial in Ottawa to commemorate the men and women who have served in Canada’s military. This year, the event has been significantly modified to ensure health and safety. You can watch the more intimate ceremony and take part in the two minutes of silence via the Legion’s facebook page. The event is usually also broadcast nationally on television.
The Legion is offering the public the new opportunity to purchase wreaths which will be pre-positioned by staff around the National War Memorial for the ceremony to act as a visual symbol and help fill the space during this year’s event. You can also contact your nearest Legion Branch to purchase a wreath which will be placed at a local commemorative event. All proceeds go to the Legion Poppy Fund in support of Canada’s Veterans and their families.
